Stephen, a chartered certified accountant, trained with a large provincial practice in Canterbury, before being enticed to move into commerce as the financial director of a London based company. After four years he re-entered the profession, armed with an enhanced knowledge and empathy of client requirements.
He became a partner in 1999 and, as well as dealing with all facets of clients affairs, is head of the firm’s audit department and advises small and medium owner managed businesses on all aspects of auditing, accounting, taxation and VAT matters. He regards himself as a general practitioner and feels able to draw on his considerable experience, calling on specialist in-house expertise when required, to provide a considered and comprehensive level of service to his clients, whilst maintaining a personal level of attention to their affairs. He effectively doubles as a surrogate Financial Director to many of his clients.
He acts for a diverse mix of corporate and business clients and is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of business advisory services. Thus, he has become closely involved in their strategic development, including structuring for growth, succession and exit planning with particular emphasis on tax planning for businesses and individuals.
